Entrepreneur. Tech Journalist. Founder of TechLila.

I’ve been building on the internet since 2010. TechLila came first, then the companies that grew out of it. Everyone gets the same 24 hours, right? What you do with yours is the whole story. Here I share what I keep learning about work, money, time and the life around them, so you can make things happen sooner than I did. The choice is yours.

My story

Two months in a dream job, then I quit.

I registered this domain in 2010 because it was my surname and nobody had taken it. Then came a job at TCS, the kind everyone calls a dream job, and within two months I knew it was not for me, so I left and started building things instead, TechLila first. Some of it worked. Some of it cost me more than I like to admit. The full story is on the About page, mistakes included.

Building

Most of my day now runs through AI. Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini and Spark do the heavy lifting, and I decide what is worth building.

Health

Gym in the morning or badminton court, 90 minutes each. That is 6% of your day, and still the best 6%.

Learning

Learning never stops. It is lifelong, and the day I stop is the day I start going backwards.

A productivity hack I actually use

The one-card Kanban: pick one to three needle-moving tasks the night before, do the first one first, and the rest of the day takes care of itself.

A pair of cricket wicketkeeping gloves with a red ball resting on them, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundCraft

Become the MS Dhoni of your company

Five months to appraisals. Three questions to ask yourself before the company asks them, and why your increment tracks the company's growth, not your effort.

A fountain pen resting on an open blank notebook, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

Write your own story and success will follow

Three steps to a story worth sharing: cut the negative people, keep smiling, and start before the plan is ready. The idea is 10%. The rest is getting it done.

Six plain wooden chess pawns standing in a row on a light table, five together and one stepped clearly ahead of the others, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

Six kinds of people, and which one you are

Six kinds of people, sorted by how they chase their targets, and why only a few end up with the joyful life. Which one are you?

A pair of worn leather hiking boots with a rolled paper trail map tucked beside them, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

My biggest motivation is to keep challenging myself

After the Himalayan trip I admitted I had missed two years of targets by underestimating myself. Being a serial entrepreneur is harder than a bio makes it sound.

An old brass pocket compass with its lid open, seen from above, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

Always listen to your inner voice

Three times a quiet voice told me to leave what was safe: quitting TCS, starting a business with a friend, and renting an office for 50. It was right each time.

A classic glass hourglass with pale sand, half run through, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

"I do not have time" is an excuse, not a reason

The excuse I hear most from friends is that there is no time. The transformation people noticed after two years, and the honest accounting of hours behind it.

A single dandelion seed head on its stem, a few seeds drifting off, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundLife

A day will come when each of us will die

Death is certain and its date is not. The thought experiment I put to friends a year ago, and the question it leaves: what would you do with 360 days?

A pale pink ceramic piggy bank on a mustard paper blob over a field of sage halftone dots, cut out on a grained paper-collage groundMoney

The people who taught me what to do with money

I kept everything in a savings account until the right people, one at a time, showed me what money can do. This is my thank-you to them.
